You may have come across a new article recently that’s been making waves on social media as it talks about a 6-year-old running a full marathon. While some people on the internet took it light-heartedly, others not so much! Now, the Parents, Ben and Kami Crawford are under investigation for potential child abuse when they revealed that the child services is looking into their family. The news quickly spread over the internet as the Crawfords shared a post on their Instagram, which showed little Rainer who was being interviewed by the CPS Kentucky department.
A Bad Day For The Crawfords
In the statement, the family shared that the Child Protective Services showed up on their doorstep unannounced and interviewed the family members including children, grandparents, and parents. They added that this whole event was traumatising for their family as these visits are interviews that are held when the child is away from parents against their will. Any kind of hint from the answers could lead to the children being taken away from the parents.
A Reward Or A Punishment?
The Crawfords have a family YouTube channel and a website that revolve around their family life. The couple added in their 2nd may post that their son, Rainer, was crying and they were moving slowly. So, they bribed their young one and promised him 2 packs of pringles if he continued the race. By the 20th mile, the young boy was struggling to keep up and wanted to sit down every three minutes.
The parents thought it would be a great idea to keep him going even if it meant pushing him through incentives.
In another Instagram post, the couple shared that they had to continue bribing Rainer with his favorite chips to get him to participate in the family picture at the end of the line. The post showed the little boy with his chips so it looks like he got his payment!
The Backlash
When the news broke out, many people called it child abuse. Even two-time Olympian Kara Goucher was not happy about the whole ordeal; she mentioned that a 6-year-old isn’t aware of the dangerous implications of running a marathon.
So, what do you think should the Crawfords face charge? Should they be let off easy?
