Barry Morphew, 58, is back in custody while awaiting trial on charges that he murdered his wife, Suzanne Morphew, who disappeared on Mother’s Day 2020. Suzanne’s remains were discovered in 2023, and Barry has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. He had been released on a $3 million bond with GPS monitoring and restrictions on his travel.
Court records say Morphew was allegedly involved in a Denver hit-and-run involving two other vehicles. A judge wrote that Morphew refused to provide his identification or insurance information, offered one driver $300 for the damage and was recorded attempting to buff scratches from the vehicle with his hand and T-shirt. The incident prompted tighter restrictions before Morphew was subsequently arrested for allegedly violating his bond conditions.
