<p>A 6-year-old girl died Tuesday after she was struck by a school bus in suburban Frankfort, police said. </p><p>Officers at about 3:24 p.m. responded to the 500 block of Aberdeen Road and found the child unresponsive at the location after being hit by the bus, police said in a news release. </p><p>Witnesses and first responders at the scene attempted to revive the girl before she was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she later died, police said. </p><p>Investigators indicated that the bus contained several passengers at the time of the collision, but no other injuries were reported. </p><p>"This tragic incident has had a profound impact on those involved, their families, and our community. We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this heartbreaking event," Frankfort police said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim, their family, loved ones, and all those impacted as they navigate this difficult time."</p><p>This investigation remains ongoing, police said. </p>
