A 17-year-old Ohio girl who disappeared from a Columbus crisis shelter in December 2025 was found alive 263 days later inside the home of former Springfield science teacher Jobe Binkley, 48. Her family says it repeatedly told authorities that she was likely staying there and even provided photos they said showed the teenager inside the residence.

A U.S. Marshals task force eventually entered Binkley’s home on Aug. 21 and located the girl. Binkley was charged with interference with custody, pleaded not guilty and was released on bond. Family members have accused him of grooming the teenager, while the school district said previous allegations against Binkley had been unsubstantiated and that it was unaware of allegations involving this particular teen.
