Former River Crest Elementary fifth-grade teacher Abigail Faust, 25, pleaded guilty in a case involving the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy she had previously babysat. Faust came under scrutiny during the investigation of fellow River Crest teacher Madison Bergmann, who was separately convicted in a case involving an 11-year-old student and is serving a six-year prison sentence. Investigators reportedly uncovered messages between the two teachers discussing their conduct.
Faust is being held pending her December 15 sentencing, and prosecutors agreed under her plea deal not to seek more than 15 years. A separate allegation that Faust kissed a fifth-grade student in her classroom was dropped as part of the agreement, so we should not present that allegation as another conviction.
