California state Sen. Aisha Wahab defeated Democrat Melissa Hernandez 53% to 47% in the special election to replace Eric Swalwell, who resigned amid sexual misconduct allegations. Wahab will be the first Afghan American in Congress. She and Hernandez will compete again in November for a full two-year term.
